[burden-eu] Webinar on the disease burden of environmental noise

Dear colleagues,

On Friday 26 January 2024, 11h-12h CET, we will organize our next burden-eu webinar, focussing on the disease burden of environmental noise.

The health impacts of environmental noise are a growing concern. Documented health effects of environmental noise include cardiovascular disease, cognitive impairment, sleep disturbance, tinnitus, and annoyance. The environmental burden of disease methodology, based on exposure–response relationship, exposure distribution, background prevalence of disease and disability weights of the outcome, can be applied to quantify, monitor and benchmark the burden of noise in terms of disability-adjusted life-years.

In this webinar, you will be provided with novel insights into estimating the disease burden of environmental noise.

Programme in a nutshell

Uptake and impact of the WHO Environmental noise guidelines for the European Region and insights into the upcoming EU-wide noise health risk assessment
— Dr Eulalia Peris, European Environment Agency

Burden of disease due to transportation noise in the Nordic countries: experiences with the use of data from strategic noise mapping
