Summer Schools

Our burden of disease summer schools aim to introduce the key concepts of Disability-Adjusted Life Year calculations. Each summer school runs over a period of three consecutive days, and combines theoretical and practical sessions. The summer schools are organised every August in Ghent, Belgium, and are supported by experienced burden of disease researchers.

Registration information

To register, click on the desired summer school below.

The registration fee for each summer school is 500 EUR. This registration fee includes course material, coffee breaks and lunch. It does not include dinner, nor accommodation.

Cancellation

Should the summer school be cancelled by the organiser for organisational reasons or as a result of force majeure, the organiser will refund the registration fee. Claims for further liabilities or damages are excluded.

If the participant cancels more than 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, 90% of the registration fee can be reimbursed. If the participant cancels within 4 weeks before the start of the summer school, only 20% of the registration fee will be refunded. This will also be so in case of changing travel regulations and/or in case of a positive test for COVID-19 maximum one week before or during the summer school. All refunds are made in euros. The organisation cannot refund any shortfalls due to exchange rate fluctuations or bank charges.

The summer schools are organised at the Novotel Gent Centrum, located within the historical heart of Ghent, Belgium.

Travel and accomodation

Travel and accomodation are not included in the registration fee, and need to be arranged by the participants. We have however pre-booked a number of hotel rooms at the Novotel Gent Centrum.
